Blue Heron PTO General Meeting November 22, 2010 7:00 Call to Order A motion was made to approve the October minutes (S/A) President’s Report-Kris Fredrick reported on fundraisers—wanted to reiterate that we only truly have two fundraisers; those being the fall fundraiser and the walk-a-thon. Derek will be leading the PTO meeting for December, as Kris will be gone. A discussion was had regarding other options for fall fundraisers. A stipend was discussed for Art and Science Fair positions. A motion was made to approve a stipend for both positions with the amount to be determined after further research. (S/A) Vice President’s Report: Entertainment books have been returned. Forty-five books were sold total and all teachers who wanted a book each got a copy for free. Treasurer’s Report-Kristi Herbrechtsmeyer reported that Turkey Bingo brought in $300. As of today’s date we haven’t been billed for fall fundraiser. Current funds available balance after all expenses is approximately $16,000.00. However, that is with $4,000.00 set aside for carnival and we won’t be using that money for this year. That raised the funds available balance to approximately $20,000.00. Principal’s Report-Mr. Melde reported on MCA II Results. Blue Heron made AYP in every category and outperformed the state average in every category. In 2010 82.72% of students tested proficient in reading and 84.12% tested proficient in math. Blue Heron teachers will continue to meet in PLCs to look at data and make adjustments as needed. Advertising in Schools: The vote was shut down on the board level, as it was a 3 in favor, 3 against. Teacher’s Report-No teacher representative for this meeting. Artist in Residence—Last year we used the Compass website and narrowed down an option from there. A committee is needed to look at options for possible artists. A motion was made to have an artist in residence for this year with further discussion and recommendations pending. (S/A) Fall Fundraiser—The fall fundraiser went well. Nov. 4th is fundraiser pick up. Two shifts of volunteers will be needed to organize and hand out items. Interested parties can sign up on the PTO website to volunteer. Fall Bookfair—Was a success despite limited volunteers. Turkey Bingo-Kristi Herbrechtsmeyer reported that Turkey Bingo went well. However, it was very difficult to get volunteers for the event. Fall Spirit Wear – Krisit Herbrechtsmeyer will be sorted on the 30th and then handed out Wed December 1st, 2010. Funding Requests No funding requests at this time. Movie Night- Movies need to be selected then will be voted on by the school. A motion was made to have movie night for January of 2011.
