Blue Heron Elementary PTO Minutes Meeting Date: Monday, April 18, 2011 I. 7:02 Call to order II. A motion was made to approve the February minutes (S/A) (No March meeting was held). III. President’s Report – Kris Frederick reported we have a funding request for $18.75 for printing. Motion made to approve the request (S/A). Frederick also reported there are two open positions for next year’s PTO – Vice President and Secretary. Also discussed and finalized the 2011-12 calendar of PTO events. IV. Treasurers Report – Kristi Herbrechtsmeyer reported there are $4256.76 available in the account. This does not include the $5,000 that has been paid for basketball hoops and the money that will be taken in for the walk-a-thon to pay for the basketball hoops. Herbrechtsmeyer also requested approval to pay $76.86 for “pencils for PE” as part of the tennis program (M/S/A) V. Principal’s Report – Dan Melde presented the pending cuts to the district. The district is currently experiencing declining enrollment by approximately 130 students. The goal at the elementary level as funding cuts are made is to maintain class size. VI. Teacher’s Report – Labels for education produced enough money to purchase playground balls, jump ropes, bases, and other items for recess for all grade levels. VII. Committee Reports – a. Walk-a-Thon – Planning going well. Confirmed budget of $500. Envelopes will go home with students in May. Volunteers needed. b. Book Fair – Posters are out. The Spring Book Fair will be May 3 – 5 and is buy one get one free. Set up Friday April 29 and take down Friday May 6. Volunteers needed. Dairy Queen will give 10% of their profits to BHE on May 3. c. Art Show/Science Fair – Everything is on track for the Art Show/Science Fair. Volunteers are needed. d. 5th Grade Party – T-shirts have been ordered. Party will be at the YMCA on june 5th. 110 students are coming so far. e. Yearbooks – have been ordered. They will go home with students on June 6th and June 7th is autograph day. f. Website – Sue Linser will be updating the BHE website to make volunteer sign-up easier. VIII. Funding request for $18.00 for school supply kits – (M/S/A) Meeting Adjourned at 7:55.
